'Tweaks' for CPA unveiled

The Audit Commission has published a number of recommendations designed to tweak the CPA process for councils. It has published two consultation documents, one looking at single-tier and county councils, and the other concerned with district councils.

The consultation period for both documents lasts until 30 May, and the final report will be published on July 27. A small number of changes are proposed for single-tier councils, including removing the protection of the culture service assessment score. The report also recommends introducing a three-year ‘time out rule', so only inspections published after January 2004 could be included in CPA assessments.
