Twin-hat directors 'not best way to gain credibility'

A county chief executive has questioned SOLACE director Graeme McDonald’s assertion in last week’s The MJ that the trend to ‘twin hat’ directors of children’s services with other directorates is both desirable and inevitable.

A county chief executive has questioned SOLACE director Graeme McDonald's assertion in last week's The MJ that the trend to ‘twin hat' directors of children's services with other directorates is both desirable and inevitable.

John Sinnott, chief executive of Leicestershire CC said: ‘The cost-saving argument can be false and does not stand up if the model leads to an increase in heads of service posts.'
