UK infrastructure is well behind its international rivals and lacking in direct trade links – including freight routes – to developing markets, experts have warned.

Almost three quarters of manufacturers compare the UK's infrastructure unfavourably to elsewhere in the EU, and only 59% of firms are happy with transport links to new markets in emerging economies.
