Britain's multiculturalism policy went ‘too far in the wrong direction', communities secretary Eric Pickles claimed this week.

Speaking at a community cohesion conference in London, Mr Pickles said the past multiculturalism programme had ‘got the balance wrong... and it failed to stem the rise of a new bigotry'.
