The influential chair of the Commons health committee has warned that the UK's social care system is on the brink of collapse.

Conservative MP, Stephen Dorrell, a former health secretary, told The MJ he agreed with comments submitted to his committee by Andrew Cozens, strategic director of care at the Local Government Association, during the MPs' critical report on the progress of the NHS – published this week.
