Union suspends councillors over pay dispute

Suspensions including that of the council leader were announced by Unite during a rally for striking bin lorry drivers.

Unite has suspended 24 Labour councillors in Coventry from the union in its increasingly bitter pay dispute with the council.

Sharon Graham, Unite's general secretary, announced the suspensions – which include council leader George Duggins – during a rally for striking bin lorry drivers in the city.
