Unions' fury over pension changes

Seven unions were expected to have announced strike action over changes to local government pensions by yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

At least 16,000 Amicus members who work in local authorities, or who previously worked for local authorities, and are members of the local government pension scheme, voted almost nine to one in favour last week of industrial action over plans to raise their retirement age.
