Union's fury over plan for regional pay rates

George Osborne confirms plans to press ahead with regional pay rates in the public sector.

The Government is heading for another showdown with the unions after chancellor George Osborne confirmed plans to press ahead with regional pay rates in the public sector.

In his Budget statement, Mr Osborne confirmed civil service departments exiting the public sector pay freeze next year – including the DCLG – ‘will be able to introduce more local, market-facing pay reform'.
