Unions call for government to intervene over Southern Cross

Trade unions have called on the Government to intervene over cash-strapped care home group Southern Cross.

Trade unions have called on the Government to intervene over cash-strapped care home group Southern Cross after it announced it was planning to shed 3,000 jobs.

Both Unison and the GMB have called for intervention after the beleaguered firm published plans yesterday to restructure its workforce.
