Unions lose legal fight over redundancy payouts

A legal challenge against drastic cuts to civil service redundancy payouts has been rejected by the High Court.

A legal challenge against the minister for the Cabinet Office's imposition of drastic cuts to civil service redundancy payouts has been rejected by the High Court.

The Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union jointly launched a judicial review with the Prison Officers Association (POA) contesting Francis Maude's decision last December to alter the terms of the civil service compensation scheme.
