Unions split over pensions as Unite rejects offer

Trade unions take different paths local government pension scheme talks, as Unison agrees to 'in-depth' discussions with ministers.

Trade unions representing local government staff have taken different paths on crucial ongoing pensions talks, following the decision by Unite to reject the Government¹s provisional framework agreement.

On 9 January, Unite general secretary, Len McCluskey, said his members¹ lack of trust in communities secretary, Eric Pickles, had given his senior representatives 'no choice' but to withdraw from discussions.
