Unions suspend planned walkout

The three main local government trade unions have called off planned strike action next Tuesday - that would potentially have involved up to 1.5 million council staff.

The three main local government trade unions have suspended strike action planned for next Tuesday - a walkout that would potentially have involved up to 1.5 million council staff.

Instead Unison, GMB and Unite have decided to consult their members on revised proposals outlined by the Local Government Association as the best possible deal from the two years from 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2016.
