Unions vote 'yes' to LGPS deal

Unison members vote overwhelmingly in favour of accepting proposed changes to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Members of trade unions Unison and Unite have voted overwhelmingly in favour of accepting proposed changes to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) – following the recent acceptance by the GMB union.

From Unison, more than nine-in-ten (90.2%) of members – working across local government, police and probation, schools, private companies and the voluntary sector – voted ‘yes' to the planned pension scheme changes – due to take effect from 2014.
