Unite members to be balloted over industrial action

Strikes could begin later this autumn if workers vote for industrial action in ballots launched at more than 20 local authorities.

Strikes could begin later this autumn if workers vote for industrial action in ballots launched at more than 20 local authorities.

It comes after Unite trade union members employed by councils in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, who cover many frontline roles including refuse collection workers and care staff, rejected the local government employers' £1,290 pay offer for 2024-25 by 85%.
