United approach for training youth leaders

The Government announces a £10m grant to train thousands of new leaders for national youth groups, including the Scouts and the Girl Guides.

The Government has announced a £10m grant to train thousands of new leaders for national youth groups, including the Scouts and the Girl Guides.

The volunteers will be recruited and trained by Youth United, a coalition of youth organisations from across Britain, to run 400 new youth groups. ‘Scouts, Guides and the [military] Cadets have a tremendously proud and successful history of giving young people the kind of fun, life skills and experiences they can't get anywhere else,' said communities secretary, Eric Pickles.
