How to unleash a new generation of council housing

There are financial pressures mounting on the Housing Revenue Account that could hold councils back from replacing the social housing stock that has been slowly diminishing through Right to Buy, says Tracy Bingham

Tackling the housing crisis was front and centre of the King's Speech, with planning reforms confirmed in a bid to build 1.5 million new homes over the next five years.

While the detail on the how will follow, the intention to make it easier for the public sector to facilitate new housing was clear.
