Unlocking the East of England's potential

Closing the GDP gap between the East and other UK regions could add an extra £31.2bn to the national economy each year says James Palmer. But nagging problems that are stifling growth must be solved to achieve these benefits.

As someone who has spent most of my career living and working in the East of England, I am convinced that this often-overlooked corner of the country has the potential to transform the British economy.

This might seem a far-fetched statement, given the East`s rather humble status compared to the economies of hyper-affluent regions like the South East.
