The advertisement for chief executive of Manchester City Council, which appears in The MJ today, comes after Sir Howard Bernstein announced he would be retiring next spring after 18 years in the job during which Manchester has been at the forefront of the devolution, Northern Powerhouse, and health and social care integration agendas.
