Numbers volunteering at local libraries leaps 20%

The number of people volunteering at their local libraries has risen by more than 20% in the last year, according to latest figures.

The number of people volunteering at their local libraries has risen by more than 20% in the last year, according to latest figures from the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).

The number of volunteers increased by 22.3% to 22,462 people but, over the same time period, the number of library staff fell by 4.3% to 23,681.
