Labour is once again the dominant political force at city halls across Wales, after sweeping to power in key areas last night - including the capital, Cardiff.
Seats were contested in 21 of the 22 unitary local authorities in Wales. Labour appear to be the major winner, after taking seats from all major rivals and winning undisputed control of Cardiff, Merthyr, Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Swansea, Torfaen and Newport.
