The parent company of waste management contractor Viridor has announced a fall in pre-tax profits of almost 10%, as Birmingham City Council rejects reports it could outsource its bins service.

The parent company of waste management contractor Viridor has announced a fall in pre-tax profits of almost 10%, as Birmingham City Council rejects reports it could outsource its bins service.

The Pennon Group, which owns Viridor along with South West Water, announced a drop in pre-tax profits of 9.8% to £100m for the six months to 30 September.
