New waste strategy

Surrey  has moved a step closer to finding a new way to deal with the 600,000 tonnes of household waste created in the county each year.

The county council and 11 district and borough councils have agreed to consult on a 20-year joint waste strategy, which would reduce reliance on landfill and increase the recycling rate from 25% to 60%.
