Labour’s new housing strategy will need to tackle more than planning to get homes built, says Emma Ramell

The debate on housebuilding has long been focused around three key questions: how many homes should we build? Where should we build them? And how do we achieve this?

Less than a month after taking office, the Government sought to answer the first two by announcing a new target of building 370,000 new homes per year and introducing the concept of ‘grey belt' land into planning policy.
