Radical legislation for transforming social services in Wales will go live from April 2016, Welsh Assembly ministers announced today.
Speaking at the North Wales Social Care in Partnership annual conference taking place in Llandudno today, deputy minister for social services, Gwenda Thomas described the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 as the most significant piece of legislation passed by the National Assembly since devolution fifteen years ago.
The Act, which received Royal Assent last week, introduces a robust statutory framework for the protection of adults and strong national leadership arrangements for safeguarding people.
