West Country set to reject weekly bin plan

Local authorities across the West Country – a region where all councils operate fortnightly waste collections and weekly recycling services – are poised to spurn Eric Pickles' cash offer to help them return to weekly bin collections.

This follows the launch last week by the communities secretary's of a £250m weekly collections support scheme – designed to fund authorities seeking to keep or reintroduce weekly waste and recycling services.
