Plans for a new weekend and nightly weekday parking charge regime in Westminster have been postponed until March 2012 following opposition to the proposals.

Charges under the new regime were meant to start at the beginning of the festive period, on 1 December, then in January 2012 - but the local authority has now decided to delay it until after the Olympics next August.
