The leader of Westminster City Council has announced she is standing to become the next Conservative candidate for the mayor of London.

Writing on the ConservativeHome website, Cllr Philippa Roe, said the London mayor is one of the ‘most important jobs in UK politics' and that, if elected, she will ‘bat for all Londoners across the 32 boroughs and the City of London'.
