From humble beginnings, the All Stars Boxing Gym, on Harrow Road in Westminster has been changing the lives of disadvantaged young people on West London estates for the past 50 years. It's a much-loved institution in North Paddington and relies on voluntary donations to survive.

When the Gym's boiler and heaters packed in last winter, a council housing contractor, GEM Environmental was able to help by replacing and upgrading the gym's central heating system free of charge. It kept the doors open in a part of the city where residents have lower levels of qualifications, earnings and health and higher levels of unemployment than elsewhere in the city. Westminster LBC knows how voluntary sector organisations, such as All Stars play such a vital role in giving young people a fighting chance, an alternative to gang involvement and drive positive impacts on their health and wellbeing. That's why responding quickly and linking up our contractors with the club was so important.
