As many readers will know, for some time I have been calling for collaboration within the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and espousing the benefits of scale as a means to access alternative investments, such as infrastructure.

It was satisfying to see these issues elevated into the political mainstream by chancellor George Osborne earlier this month when he announced his focus on infrastructure and the formation of a national commission under Lord Adonis.
