White paper to retain commitment to open up services, Maude insists

Francis Maude has insisted the coalition’s commitment to plurality of provision will be included in the public services white paper.

Francis Maude, minister for the Cabinet Office has insisted the coalition's previously stated commitment to ensuring plurality of provision will be included in the long-delayed public services white paper, due for publication in the next two weeks.

Addressing a civil service conference in Olympia yesterday, Mr Maude also restated the government's commitment to maintaining defined benefit schemes which, he said, 'have all but disappeared from the private sector.'
