White van man on... civil servants

I’m all in favour of spreading the bowler hat brigade around the country instead of having them walled up in their Whitehall bubble where all they do is talk to other nine-to-five jobsworths like themselves. Instead of nipping out for a low carbon coconut latte with Peruvian pencil shavings, they can taste the real world like a full English with extra mush and double bubble, washed down with a mug of tea with five sugars.

I mean, how do these jobsworths ever expect to relate to us lot, the taxpayers, if they never meet any of them? It stands to reason that if you work for someat called the ministry of housing and local government it might be an idea to find out exactly what a council does.
