White Van Man on council cuts to the voluntary sector

My mate down at the Star and Splendour says his local council has put up the cost of using the Scout hut once a week by 300%. Okay it’s gone up from £20 to £60 a year which doesn’t sound much but that’s not the point.

The Scouts have got to find another forty quid a year out of their own pockets. You can be darned sure the council hasn’t cut its biscuit ration to councillors by £40 a year or put a penny on the price of a cuppa in the over-subsidised town hall canteen or even started charging for staff parking.
