Whole of government accounts reveal £2,400bn liabilities

Treasury publishes for first time whole of government accounts (WGA) revealing liabilities totalling £2.4 trillion.

Treasury has for the first time published whole of government accounts (WGA) revealing total hidden costs, including public service pensions and PFI schemes, amounting to around £2.4 trillion.

The unaudited summary of accounts covering the entire public sector encompasses over 1,500 public bodies across central government, local government, the NHS and public corporations.
