The head of Ofsted, Sir Michael Wilshaw, has announced he is taking charge of the watchdog's investigation into claims some schools in Birmingham have been taken over.

Sir Michael announced over the weekend he was taking charge of the investigations into Trojan Horse and will go to Birmingham to finalise reports into 18 schools around the city.

Both Birmingham City Council and the Department for Education are also conducting their own Trojan Horse investigations, following reports that Muslim hardliners have taken over a number of schools.
