Windsor and Maidenhead RBC has become one of five local authorities poised to reduce council tax – cutting levels by 1.5% to deliver the lowest Band D rate outside London.

According to figures issued by the authority, this equates to a 7.1% real terms cut and will save residents £10m. This has been achieved by a range of savings including £10m from its renewed seven-year waste contract, £1.6m from a restructuring of business services and £100,000 from re-competing its insurance contract.
