Woolas denies urban bias in flood funding

Environment minister, Phil Woolas, has dismissed accusations that the Government prioritised urban local authorities over rural councils when distributing flood-prevention funding.

Mr Healey announced that the Government was able to set up a Restoration Fund of almost £31M for English local authorities affected by last summer's flood  after the UK suceeded in in its bid for the European Union Solidarity Fund. Funding will also be allocated to the Northern Irish and Welsh devolved administrations in line with the damage they suffered.
