'A' word that's key to the next election

The Red Wall seats that delivered the Conservative victory in 2019 are turned off by spending cuts, making ‘austerity’ a banned word for all the main parties seeking their votes, says Michael Burton.

It looks like austerity, a word which we thought had been banished by Theresa May back in 2018 because it had become such a political albatross for the Conservatives, is back to finally finish them off.

However adroit chancellor Jeremy Hunt was in shunting spending cuts beyond the next General Election in order to ensnare Labour, austerity will be the battleground between the two parties and it doesn't look good for the Conservatives.
