Workers' anticipation at

Scotland is on the verge of providing its own solution to the local government pension crisis. ~Pat Watters~ president of umbrella council organisation, COSLA, told delegates at its annual conference last week, a Scotland-only solution was on the cards.

Around 100,000 Scottish local government employees went on strike last month protesting at plans to remove the ‘rule of 85', allowing workers to retire on full pension at 60, if their age and years of service totalled 85. The executive and Westminster government claim the rule contravenes European anti-age discrimination regulations.
