A call for Caller: but where is the next gen?

Following the collapse of Birmingham City Council, local government finance has been big news, even in the usually uninterested national media. 

The appointment of Max Caller, former chief executive of Hackney LBC and perennial commissioner, made national news after levelling up secretary Michael Gove coaxed him out of retirement into a job too big to refuse.
