The Government should create regional wealth funds that could borrow hundreds of millions of pounds to invest in firms and create jobs, North of Tyne mayor Jamie Driscoll said in a paper published today.
Published by the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), the paper argued that a fund in his area could secure up to £500m of extra investment and create 14,000 jobs.
