Elections show the organisation at its ‘one council’ best

For many of us, 2 May or not 2 May? That is the question. Or, now no longer the question, as both the Prime Minister and chancellor have dropped heavy hints that the General Election is likely to be held in the autumn.

At the recent District Councils’ Network conference, Gideon Skinner of Ipsos MORI told us what voters think, which is essentially that more than 70% of those polled are dissatisfied with the current Government and reckon it is time for a change. Skinner and professor Sir John Curtice illustrated why the Government itself might not be in any rush to test those findings sooner rather than later.
