Gove plays down voter ID concerns

Local government secretary Michael Gove has brushed off fears of gaps in data collection on voter ID requirements at May’s elections.

Returning officer Ian Miller is among those to have warned that data collected by the Government to assess its voter ID policy could present a false picture of its impact, with those turned away before reaching the presiding officer not counting towards the figures.
