Local transport bodies need greater freedoms

For too many of our citizens, travelling within and between our great cities is often an ordeal. They are let down by late or cancelled services, ancient rolling stock and a chronic lack of a truly local, joined-up transport planning.

Media coverage of the significant problems with rail across the North has increased substantially recently and I am currently leading an independent review into the catalogue of disruption that has affected thousands of passengers over the last few months.
