May must listen to the public on the state of the state

Theresa May’s plans to increase her majority to push through a Brexit deal have backfired spectacularly and it seems we are now living in a world where politicians are struggling to read their electorate. 

This may be a problem for them when it comes to winning elections and referendums – but the real problem is we have a government which doesn’t know what the public wants.
