Mind the gap

The local government sector has arguably been hit as hard as any by the COVID-19 pandemic, ravaging social care, testing public health teams to the limit, and leaving finances in tatters.

As the sector moves from crisis management to recovery, a string of chief executives have announced their retirement having put plans on hold to help lead their authorities’ response to the pandemic.
