Safeguard reforms could save councils billions

Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) are ‘unfit for purpose’ and must be scrapped immediately, the Law Commission has insisted. 

Writing for The MJ as the body published a new report, commissioner for public law, Nicholas Paines QC, claimed implementing new safeguards would protect vulnerable patients and save local authorities billions each year.
