Assistant chief executive at Birmingham City Council, Jonathan Tew, is expected to become the boss of South Tyneside MBC later this year.
Mr Tew previously worked at Stoke-on-Trent, Blackburn with Darwen and Durham councils.
He has also worked as an associate director at KPMG’s public sector and health consulting practice, advising senior politicians, chief executives and statutory directors in the public sector.
