Today (Wednesday 3rd December) is the United Nations day for rights for disabled people. Each year the UN promotes the rights of disabled people as enshrined in the UN ‘Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities' (UNCRPD).
Although the British government is a signatory to the convention, there are many areas of discrimination and inequality facing disabled people in the UK today which fail to uphold the letter, or even the spirit, of the Convention.
