The significant challenges that the UK's ageing population pose to local housing provision mean a clear long-term, strategic approach between local and national government is essential.

The Government's ‘Review of Housing Standards', currently being consulted on by DCLG, needs to adopt this long term view and increase the number of accessible and adaptable homes for disabled and older people.
