Wonderful news last week that the Government – or, according to reports, the prime minister, personally – has decided that the key Dilnot recommendation on funding of social care is to be implemented.

According to the press, Number 10 has overruled Treasury objections and decided that the right thing to do for older people who need care is to implement the sensible and widely supported proposals for a cap of £35,000 on care bills.
